NEW! Siblings Play Group
As Children Blossom is proud to offer its latest class, a social play group for siblings of children with special
needs. The play group offers children the chance to use the same gym equipment and toys their brothers and
sisters do and will facilitate many of the same activities. Participants will be given the chance to see what their
siblings do in therapy and will gain a better understanding of what occurs within the therapeutic milieu. At the
same time, the participants will get the chance to share with other children, allowing them to explore the unique
feelings and experiences having a brother or sister with special needs alongside peers with similar experiences.
Each Sibling Play Group will be facilitated by either a speech-language therapist or an occupational therapist.
Children will be encouraged to interact and share their feelings and experiences with one another. At the same
time, they will swing, ride scooters, dance to music, and play numerous games. The Sibling Play Group allows
mutual support to grow organically from the social experience of playing together. At the same time, children will
find the therapies their sibling uses more familiar and develop their own understanding of their brother or sister.
The group is currently held once per week after school-hours.
If you are interested in having your son or daughter participate in the Siblings Play Group, please contact either
Lisa or Jodi.
